Funeral Bus Hire

Timebus at St Pancras & Islington Cemetery

Our customers choose our classic red London Routemasters for a less formal, and more environmentally friendly, alternative to a traditional cortege of cars at a funeral or memorial service.

They are especially poignant marking the passing of a loved one who had a strong association with buses. This might be someone whose career was in the industry, such as a bus driver or conductor, or who held a passion for these iconic vehicles, such as a bus enthusiast, photographer, author, preservationist or museum volunteer.

Our buses are hired for transporting mourners, and sometimes also a late loved one in their coffin on board.

At this difficult time for the bereaved, be assured that everyone at Timebus will be sensitive and sympathetic to the occasion.

Carrying Mourners Only?

Open Platform Routemaster close to Mornington Crescent
  • Our bus can convey passengers linking venues: home or hotel, memorial/burial/cremation services and wake.
  • This can include a funeral cortege with a hearse car, processing sedately through the streets.
  • We can provide an Open Platform Routemaster (pictured) with 72 seats, or a Routemaster Express with 57.

Carrying a Coffin?

Routemaster Express in Barnet
  • Our 'hearse bus' can collect the coffin and up to 32 mourners and travel to the funeral service, allowing mourners to be close to their loved one on their final journey.
  • The bus can also carry (up to 57) passengers on to a wake afterwards.
  • Flowers and tributes can be placed on and around the coffin on board.
  • The compatible bus is a Routemaster Express (pictured).
